# About
|
> "When learning a foreign language you get to understand aspects of human communication that wouldn't otherwise be available to you. Each language holds and thereby can teach - to the oursider - such hidden aspects. Learning a foreign language (especially one that is far from your own native one) will transform how you understand communication, mediation of knowledge and/or relationship building. In becoming yourself in a new language, that translation process becomes a process of discovering new aspects of self that you wouldn't otherwise encounter".

Ruth-Johanne Andersson (1989) is a cis-white-female research-dancer and conceptual artist. She has studied choreography at The School of Visual Theatre, Jerusalem (2014-18) and at the MFA freestanding dance-course program at Stockholm University of the Arts (2018-21). She is driven by artistic practises that counter individual self-promotion with collectivization strategies. As part of her artistic development she has been doing academic research on Israel/Palestine at The Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies at Copenhagen University (2012-2021). She has participated in collective shows at OVERGADEN. Institute of Contemporary Art (DK), Ofelia Square (DK), Uferstudios (GER), and HaZira (ISL). She is an active member of höjden freelancer-studio in Stockholm and speaks fluent in the four languages: Swedish, Danish, Hebrew, and English.
